Past Restoration Projects - 1962 Aerial Golden Arrow
Always fancied a Golden arrow, this particular one came in an old bike mart advert very reasonable price the advert said that the engine had been overhauled and in one piece the rest of the bike although dismantled was stripped grit blasted and ready for painting and assembly, I rang the fellow and set of to Warrington to collect it.
To say I was surprised when i saw it was an understatement, it was a mess, bits of tinware were fished out of a very tumble down shed in the back garden with the engine in a wheelbarrow with a poly sheet over, as I had come a fair distance with transport I haggled a much better price and took the whole lot away.
Surprisingy most of it was there but all had to be re grit blasted with new wheel rims and S/S spokes new handle bars, exhaust system and new suspension dampers, and of course a complete repaint in its original colour the engine was no better needed new bearings a rebore and new seals the centre seal on the crank shaft had been badly damaged by whoever 'overhauled ' the engine.
I did manage to recover the original registration number from and old tax disc that was at the bottom of one of the many boxes that it came in.
Now runs and sounds great after many hours of work
