Past Restoration Projects - Moto Guzzi Lodola GT
I was not really looking for a project but this one came about rather suddenly, I was with the Douglas club setting up the stand at the 2015 Bristol Classic bike show when a friend came in from outside saying that a fellow had just brought a van in with a bike that would be a perfect project, I went outside to look offered the asking price of £500.00 and shook the fellows hand there and then, when chatting to him later he found a complete parts manual and an new exhaust pipe he chucked then in to.
When I got the machine home there was quite a lot wrong with it although it was nearly all there, both the fork legs had substantial play in the bushes and the swinging arm could have gone around corners on it's own, the engine case was full of mud and leaves and the nut to the rear drive sprocket had been welded on, wow where do I start!
Started the same place as every other bike that I own a complete strip down every part examined repaired as required then reassembled, during the course of this particular restoration a member of the Moto Guzzi club was extremly helpful with spare parts, pluse a number of parts obtained from a dealer in italy including a new saddle cover and exhaust silencer.
It was entered for the Bristol Classic bike show in 2016 first time out and won a prize in the private entry section.
