Red Honda CD175 Rebuild
The red Honda CD 175 as purchased. Now ready to begin the path to a full restoration.
Up on the bike lift to begin the first job, a total strip and clean up.
The strip down well under way, just got the job of sorting out all the bits and cleaning ready for the paint job.
All sorted and a rough clean. I have had the polychromatic paint matched to a colour called Blazing Red. A bit complicated to apply but we will see!
Most of the parts except the tank I have now painted, pretty well a perfect match to the original forty year old paint colour !
The Start of the assembly process. Most parts join to the frame in some way.
Best to start with the rebuilt engine first, less likely to scratch the new paint.
A few of the bigger parts now fitted to the frame.
Real progress now. It is really beginning to look like a bike
Time for the real headache, the electrics. Lots of sorting out on this bike, front brake light and lots of indicator lights in the speedo head.
First time off the lift and on to the floor, a whole different perspective.
Last part to paint, the tank. Got to be careful with this, it's the first thing that catches the eye on a completed bike.
The completed bike. Started first kick with only a very few minor glitches. Now to repeat the whole process with the 2nd Blue Honda.
